THE WORLD’S GREATEST TENOR SINGS THE WORLD’S GREATEST MOVIE SONGS, LIVE!
From new album ‘Cinema’
One of the world’s great voices, Andrea Bocelli returns to the UK & Ireland celebrating the greatest movie songs of all time.
And joining him on stage in Dublin and London for Classical duets, will be superstar Nicole Scherzinger and leading Irish soprano Celine Byrne
Nicole recently showcased her talent in the West End revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s ‘Cats’ to great acclaim, receiving an Olivier Award nomination for her performance.
On performing with Andrea, Nicole says “It’s such an honor to share the stage with Mr. Bocelli; we always have the best time working together and singing with him is truly the closest I've ever come to singing with an angel. I was so appreciative that he asked me to perform alongside him once again and I am very much looking forward to another unforgettable show.”
Andrea and Nicole teamed up for a stunning rendition of No Llores Por Mi Argentina (Don’t Cry For Me Argentina) from Evita on his ‘Cinema’ album, another Andrew Lloyd Webber classic.
“Nicole has a rare talent,” says Andrea, “Her performance on my album was a highlight for me and to sing with her again will be a highlight of the tour too. Our voices just work together. I know a great voice when I hear one and Nicole has proved that she is more than just a pop star.”
As was the case with all of his previous sold out Dublin concerts, Maestro Bocelli will be accompanied by an orchestra and choir.
Showcasing his latest, epic album ‘Cinema,’ the tour will feature stunning pieces from the classic cinema soundtracks along with arias and duets from the most legendary operas and other classic pieces from the artist’s repertoire.
‘Cinema’ made history in the UK by reaching Number 3 in the Official Charts, crowning Bocelli as the only classical artist to achieve ten Top 10 albums.
Bocelli reunited with his musical dream team for the recording - including David Foster, Humberto Gatica and Tony Renis who worked together on the trailblazing success of Bocelli’s ‘Amore.’
Together, they explored theme songs featured in films such as “Doctor Zhivago”, “Love Story”, “The Godfather”, “Life is Beautiful”, “Gladiator”, “The Postman”, “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” and many more, as well as popular songs from stage musicals, immortalised by their film versions, such as “West Side Story” and “Evita.” A duet with pop superstar Ariana Grande on ‘E Piu Ti Penso’ from ‘Once Upon A Time In America’ completed the stellar line up.
From Ennio Morricone to Leonard Bernstein, these songs represent modern classics and over 4 nights, Bocelli will transport audiences to these epic film sets, as well as performing some of his best-loved songs.
“It has been a dream of mine for decades to bring to life great film soundtracks,” says Bocelli, “They are an artistic treasure trove and a soundtrack to many peoples lives, experiences and precious memories. Bringing the ‘Cinema’ album to live concert audiences is an opportunity I could not miss.”
Tickets for Andrea Bocelli live at 3Arena on 28 September cost from €55 including booking fee via Ticketmaster.
The biggest selling solo classical artist of all time, Bocelli has performed for four U.S. presidents, two popes and the royal family, as well as at ceremonies for the Olympic Games and the World Cup. He has been praised by such luminaries as Luciano Pavarotti, Franco Corelli, Zubin Mehta, Jose Carreras, Lorin Maazel, Renee Fleming and Celine Dion, who once introduced him by saying: “I heard someone say that if God had a singing voice, he would sound a lot like Andrea Bocelli.”
Andrea Bocelli has sold over 80 million albums around the world, his 1999 Sacred Arias album has sold over 5 million copies, making it the best selling classical recording of all time. His pop career, including the much loved Time To Say Goodbye, a duet with Sarah Brightman that reached Number 1 in charts around the world in 1998, may have drawn millions in, but Bocelli has always enthusiastically shared his classical calling.
